The purpose of the theme Biotechnology and biosolutions is to create technologies and products that can contribute to sustainable production and management of society’s resources.

The theme targets activities where biological knowledge is translated into applicable solutions, for example within food, materials, energy and industrial processes. This may include both the development of new methods and the optimisation of existing solutions.

Projects within the theme are expected, overall, to contribute to more sustainable use of biological resources, as well as the development of new products and processes with societal and commercial value.

More funding opportunities

All programmes under the theme Green research, technology and innovation can also fund biotechnology and biosolutions. It is also possible to obtain funding for a biosolution project in Innofounder, Innobooster and Innoexplorer, but in these cases you apply under the theme green technology and innovation.
