Research in collaboration with business
An Industrial Research project is a business-oriented research project carried out in collaboration between a private or public organisation, an industrial PhD candidate or postdoc, and a university. The project must be clearly relevant to the private company’s business or provide value to the public organisation. The industrial PhD candidate or postdoc is employed by the company.

From application to project
-
You apply for both the Industrial PhD and the Industrial Postdoc through the application system e-grant.dk, where the company supervisor creates and submits the application.
Before you can get started, you need to create a user account. You can then find the call under “Search options” and start the application from there. You can write your application in Danish or English and add the other project partners.
-
Industrial Researcher has allocated funding pools within a number of investment themes, but a pool has also been set aside for ideas that do not naturally fall within the designated themes, but still meet Industrial Researcher’s assessment requirements. Your application can either be placed within one of the themes or submitted outside the themes. ‘
The current themes can be found in the guidelines.
-
In the application, you must describe the project itself and the people and organisations involved. Your application must include, among other things:
- State of the art (including references)
- Project description (including references)
- Structure and timeline
- Dissemination plan
- Business significance and business impact (for private companies) or value to the organisation (for public organisations)
- CVs for supervisors and the candidate
For both schemes, the application consists of a form in e-grant and appendices.
Read more about the exact requirements in the guidelines.
Universities and companies can apply to the Industrial Researcher programme without having found a PhD or postdoc candidate yet.
