Innobooster – investment in innovative development projects
The purpose of the Innobooster programme is to strengthen knowledge-based innovation in Denmark’s small and medium-sized enterprises, including start-ups. An Innobooster project must include high-risk, challenge-driven and innovative knowledge-based development activities and have the potential to create significant societal impact within one of the defined themes.

Innobooster pools
Innobooster is divided into pools (periods) spread throughout the year. If there are funds left over from a pool, they are transferred to the next pool. The pools may also be increased if unused funds are added from, for example, cancelled projects.
More or fewer applications than expected can affect competition between periods and result in longer waiting times than stated. The estimated response date is updated continuously.
Below you can see the current and upcoming pools.

From application to project
Here, you can find a brief description of the application process. Always read the guidelines for a detailed description before you apply.
-
Applications for Innobooster are submitted via the electronic application system e-grant (link to e-grant). This is where all communication between us and you will take place, but you will receive an email every time there is an update on your application in e-grant.
To apply, you must:
- create a user in e-grant (with MitID or username and password)
- find the relevant call under “Application options” and start the application
- select the application framework that matches the amount applied for (DKK 200,000–1 million or DKK 1–5 million)
The application can be prepared in Danish or English.
-
Processing of an application begins when you submit it.
You cannot have more than one application for the same project under assessment at a time. This means you cannot submit the same application to multiple themes or resubmit it in another application period before you have received a decision on the first application.
If you have an application in progress in e-grant that has not been submitted when the period ends at 12:00, it will be deleted. If you want to apply in the next period, you must create and submit the application again.
-
Innobooster can only invest in innovation projects that fall within at least one of the themes below:
- Green research, technology and innovation
- Life science, health and welfare technology
- Critical and digital technologies
- Defence and security technology
When you apply, you must explain why the project falls within the selected theme, and the application will be assessed in competition with other applications within that selected theme
-
When you complete your application in e-grant, you must provide practical information and describe your project.
You must, among other things, describe:
- your company, the problem being addressed, and the solution to be developed in the project
- the value the solution can create both within the selected theme and for your business
- your project team and the project plan
You must also prepare a budget using a fixed template, which you upload together with the application. Remember to read the guidelines for all requirements for your application.
