Innobooster

The assessment of applications for Innobooster takes place in the following steps:

• The application is screened to check whether it meets the formal requirements

• The application is assessed by two independent assessors, who prepare a joint recommendation to the management of Innovation Fund Denmark.

• Large applications that receive a high score from the first and second assessor, are forwarded for processing by the Panel Committee, which conducts a new professional assessment and makes a recommendation to the management of Innovation Fund Denmark.

• The management of Innovation Fund Denmark makes the final decision

For first-time applications:

• The assessment is based on the project’s quality, potential and feasibility

For reinvestments:

• Previous results and progress are included in the assessment

• In certain cases, the application may be recommended for further processing by the Panel Committee, especially for larger total investments

The assessment of applications for Innobooster takes place in several steps and involves both employees from Innovation Fund Denmark, relevant committees and finally the management of Innovation Fund Denmark.

Everyone involved in the assessment is subject to confidentiality and Innovation Fund Denmark’s stricter requirements

Innovation Fund Denmark has established both a professional assessment committee and a panel committee, which assist in the evaluation of applications for Innobooster. The committees contribute specialised professional insight in connection with the Fund’s investments in projects within research, technology and innovation.

As part of the Fund’s engagement in Defence Tech Denmark, two separate committees have also been established, with the purpose of supporting the assessment of projects within the defence and security area.

In the assessment, we emphasise three main criteria:

• Quality of the idea: Whether your idea is innovative, relevant, differentiated from existing solutions and based on a solid professional foundation.

• Impact: Whether the project has the potential to create significant business and/or societal value through a genuine market need.

• Quality of execution: Whether you and your team or partners have the necessary competencies, as well as a clear and realistic approach with clear milestones, effective risk management and a well-balanced budget.

You will receive the decision on your application in e-grant. You will receive an email when the decision is available.

The expected processing time for your application varies throughout the year. You can see estimated times further up on Innobooster’s programme page under “Closed calls / calls with decisions”.

If your application is approved, you will receive a letter of grant in e-grant.

• You may only start the project once you have accepted the grant (approved the grant terms and conditions) in e-grant.

• If you applied with a start date and that date has passed by the time you receive your grant, your project will automatically be given a start date immediately after the grant date.

• The project’s overall period may be extended up to the maximum of two years.

You can only start your project once you have received a grant.

This means that:

• the start date is stated in your grant letter

• you cannot receive support for expenses incurred before this date

You should be aware that:

• payments from Innobooster are made in arrears on the basis of submitted and approved accounts, after you have incurred expenses in the project.

• Innovation Fund Denmark has up to 30 days to process an account

• After that, it may take up to 10 days before the money is paid into your NemKonto

During the project period, you must continuously follow up on both finances and progress.

This means that:

• you must record time spent by internal employees during the project

• You will need to submit accounts every three months. You will be notified in e-grant, when it is time.

• Once a year, you must submit an auditor’s statement confirming that the submitted accounts are correct

• During the project, you must submit a brief status update on the project’s progress

You can find the specific requirements in your grant letter and in e-grant.

Projects often change along the way, and it is possible to adjust your plan. However, it is important that the project still has the same purpose and that its commercial prospects remain intact.

You can apply for changes to, for example, knowledge suppliers, the project period or the distribution of budget items. Changes must be applied for and approved before you implement them, and you apply for changes via e-grant.

If major changes occur, you must notify us immediately in e-grant. In some cases, a project may be ended earlier if it can no longer be carried out as planned.

When your project ends, you must complete the process with a final consolidated report in e-grant.

This means that:

• within one month, you complete an evaluation and a short final report

• you submit the final accounts and an auditor’s statement

Once everything has been approved, the final part of your grant will be paid out.
