The committee consists of recognised researchers and experts with experience from industry and the public sector. The members represent different research fields and collectively have the competencies to assess the projects’ scientific quality, relevance and expected impact.

The Industrial Researcher Committee also assesses how the projects bridge research and practice through collaboration between companies and research institutions.

Two perspectives in the assessment

Research expertise

The committee’s recognised researchers contribute specialised knowledge across different research fields. Their expertise provides the basis for assessing the projects’ research level, novelty and scientific quality.

Experience in applying research

Members with experience from industry and the public sector contribute insights into commercialisation and implementation of research results. This provides the basis for assessing the projects’ potential to create business and societal value.

What does the Industrial Researcher Committee do?

Assess the applications

The members read and assess the applications based on the guidelines for the Industrial PhD and Industrial Postdoc programmes. They assess the quality of the idea, impact and quality of execution. All applications are assessed by at least two committee members.

Strengthens the assessments

At a committee meeting, the members discuss the applications and their professional assessments. The committee may also involve external experts when there is a need for specialised expertise to assess a project.

Contributes to the basis for the decision

The committee’s overall assessments form the basis for a recommendation to the management of Innovation Fund Denmark, which makes the final decision on approval or rejection. The committee also prepares written reasons for rejection for applicants who do not receive a grant.
