Greenlandic companies will now be able to apply for investment through international calls

Going forward, it will be possible to include Greenlandic organisations – including companies – in projects applying for investment through Innovation Fund Denmark’s programme International Collaborations. This follows demand from Greenlandic, Danish and international stakeholders alike. Innovation Fund Denmark is similarly working to open the scheme to Faroese organisations.

Innovation Fund Denmark’s programme International Collaborations funds Danish partners in international projects. Innovation Fund Denmark is now opening up for Greenlandic stakeholders to participate as partners in projects in which at least one Danish organisation takes part. Until now, only Danish organisations and Greenlandic universities have been able to obtain funding through the programme.

With this change, Danish applicants will have better opportunities to involve relevant Greenlandic expertise in their projects. At the same time, it may help attract more international funding, create growth, and strengthen research and innovation collaboration across Denmark and Greenland.

The new opportunities to involve Greenlandic industry take effect in connection with the current international call RAMP – Raw Materials, which is considered particularly relevant.

The expansion is based on specific demand from the RAMP partnership and Greenlandic industry, and on dialogue with the Government of Greenland, the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science, GEUS and the European Commission, where there is a shared wish to strengthen Greenlandic participation in international research and innovation collaborations – including EU partnerships.

Innovation Fund Denmark is currently exploring options and interest in expanding the scheme so that Faroese organisations can also receive co-funding under the programme International Collaborations.

Other co-funding opportunities for partners from the Danish Realm

Funding for Greenlandic and Faroese organisations is already possible under the Grand Solutions programme and in the mission-driven partnerships, where Greenlandic and Faroese stakeholders are treated on an equal footing with foreign stakeholders, as well as under the Industrial PhD programme, where funding for Greenlandic and Faroese organisations is allocated through targeted calls.
